創作概念：
台灣雲林縣口湖鄉的成龍溼地原本是一片農田，在地層下陷與1986年的韋恩颱風及1996年的賀伯颱風侵襲所引發的海水倒灌後，成龍村有大約100公頃的農地就此完全淹沒，成為現今的「成龍溼地」。自2010年開始，林務局與財團法人觀樹教育基金會攜手推動「成龍濕地國際環境藝術節」，希望開啟人與環境的對話。藝術節舉辦到2018年時已經9年了，環境藝術對於環境關懷的概念慢慢地深植在成龍村居民的生活之中，也是每年一度將居民們齊聚在一起的機會。
透過環境藝術，再度認識這塊已然下陷土地的過往與現在的樣貌，也是個一起思考我們環境未來的引子。滄海桑田在一夕間改變的不只是土地，更改變了我們看待自然，面對土地的姿態。這使得我們的心更柔軟，更懂得珍惜我們現在所擁有的。面對著這片濕地，切身感受著人類與大自然的共生。它就像是一座連結著當地居民與這塊土地的精神橋梁，透過環境藝術與居民的互動，懷著感念的心走進原本生活的土地，看著這歷史的紋理，欣賞它現在不同以往的景致與自然不一樣地給予。
成龍濕地的形成除了地層下陷之外，也因為颱風侵襲所引發的海水倒灌所造成。因此作品我以風與水這兩個主要元素來對應著環境改變的歷史。我選擇了一塊在濕地入口的地層下陷區域，這個區域環境的水位會隨著潮汐的漲退與水閘門的開合而有著乾枯與淹沒不同的風景。在水退去的時候，觀者能夠在作品周邊繞行，看見整件作品。而當水進入這塊土地時，也正是大自然調節的時候，我們可以藉由水的反射看見整個球型，就像是一顆地球被風的環帶所環繞。而作品以甘欄式建築架高的形式，使觀者能夠從外部走進作品內部，也是一種在溼地未來可能的建築形式。
在持續舉辦了九年後的藝術節中，在濕地裡的作品為了不對環境造成傷害而採取全自然工法的製作，自然的材質在濕地間隨著長時間的風吹日曬雨淋，所使用作為固定的麻繩已漸漸脆化而斷裂，作品也逐漸崩解，當時作品所使用的材料也散落在溼地裡頭。考量到環境永續的緣故，我決定回收著這些散落在濕地裡的材料，將它轉化為新作品，盡可能地使用現場的材料，將過往的材料再利用，減少浪費、購買與碳排放，回應著環境藝術的精神。除此之外，生命是種螺旋運動的過程，也是自然界中最普遍、最基本的物質運動形式。舉凡星際、颱風、地球公轉、DNA序列、植物生長的方式與生命輪迴的進程等等，皆是以螺旋運動的方式進行著。而螺旋運動對於我們認識宇宙世界有著重要的啟迪與揭示作用，同時也是物理的時空觀。此自然雕塑就像是一個從此溼地土裡長出來的螺旋棲地雕塑，中間有著一處寧靜且流動的空間。觀者由作品外面的空間慢慢往上走進這作品內部空間，感受這片溼地，聆聽著風吹動竹子與蚵殼的聲響，將成龍村民在竹片上書寫的祝福與話語與自然作連結。而且，2018年是「成龍濕地國際環境藝術節」舉辦的第9年，此螺旋也像是數字9的造型，在亞洲這個數字經常被用來當作祝福的話語，有著長長久久的意思。因此我將此作名為「成龍庇護所」，希望作品庇佑的不只是這裡的人與環境，更庇佑著那人與自然所建立起的緊密共存關係。

"2018 Cheng Long Wetlands International Environmental Art Project_ What a Difference 9 Years Makes "
The Cheng Long Wetlands, located in Kouhu Township, Yunlin County, and the land used to be farmland. After the saltwater intrusion caused by typhoon Wayne in 1986 and typhoon Herb in 1996, along with the land subsidence issue, there were about 100 hectares of farmland completely flooded, hence, the farmland had become now the Cheng Long Wetlands.
It has been 9 years since the Forestry Bureau and the Kuan Shu Educational Foundation cooperated to execute the "Cheng Long Wetlands International Environmental Art Project" in 2010. This project aims to start a conversation between people and the environment. Through environmental art, villagers are acquainted with the subsidence of land from the past to the present. Also, environmental art gradually blends into their daily life and gathers them together annually. Time changed not only the appearance of land but also our attitude toward nature, which makes our hearts softer. Therefore, we cherish what we have now and truly experience nature co-exist with us. In addition, environmental art is like a spiritual bridge that links the villagers and the land. Through this bridge, the villagers can walk through to the wetland where they used to live, look at the historical trace with a grateful heart, and then, understand these are all gifts from Mother Nature.
The Cheng Long Wetlands are caused by saltwater intrusion and land subsidence, so the main element--wind and water are added to this piece. I chose a subsidence zone to be the location of my piece. As tides and the switch of the sluice, the place changes the water stage every day, and we have different ways to appreciate this piece also. When the land is dry, we can walk around my piece to see it as a whole; When seawater enters, we can see the clear ball shape from the reflection of water, like our Earth surrounded by a wind zone; When the sea water completely submerges the entire area, it’s a period of climatic regulation.
Life is a process of spiral movement which is the very fundamental form in nature. For example, interplanetary, typhoons, earth revolutions, DNA sequence, plant growth, the process of reincarnation, and so on, are all samples existing in the way of spiral movement. The spiral movement plays an enlightenment and revealing role to help us to understand the universe, it is a physical space-time view. This natural sculpture is like a spiral that grows out of the wetland, with a quiet and flowing space in the middle. Slowly, we walk into this spiral space from outside to the middle. It’s like going from the external to the inner. In this process, we can feel the land, and listen to the sound of bamboo and oyster shells, linking nature and the villagers’ blessing. Moreover, this year is the ninth year of the environmental art project. This spiral shape is similar to the number 9. Also, the pronunciation of the number 9 in Taiwanese sounds like long and good fortune which usually be used for blessing people.
Through the nine years of art projects, some pieces have gradually disappeared over time; some pieces you can still recognize the remaining parts; and some pieces are on their path to full disintegration. To respond to the spirit of the environmental art project." Cheng Long Shelter " built by 99%recycled natural materials, tries to reduce waste, purchases, and carbon emissions as much as possible. Hope this artwork can shelter not only the people and the environment but also the co-existing relationship between humans and nature.
