Work Title: Habitat of Seed

2025 New Taipei Wetland Art Festival – “The Journey of Seeds”

A wetland is a transitional zone between water and land, between life and decay, nurturing countless unseen forces. It is both the cradle of life and the stage where seeds float, settle, linger, and are reborn.

The work Habitat of Seed takes the rounded, embracing contour of a seed as its form, constructed with handwoven bamboo. It symbolizes the inner potential and energy of life while offering visitors a temporary shelter for rest, perception, and contemplation. It is at once a seed awaiting germination and a poetic dwelling one may enter.

The diversity and shifting nature of wetlands shape the varied strategies of seeds: some drift with the wind, some pause in water, others take root when conditions allow. These ecological strategies reflect humanity’s own movements between nature and the city, between migration and settlement, prompting reflection on the meaning of “habitat.”

Each woven bamboo texture carries the warmth of touch and the traces of time. The circular window above the sculpture, like a crack of sprouting, becomes the point where light and wind enter, symbolizing the beginning of hope. As viewers step inside, they seem to become part of the seed itself, surrounded by the flickering shadows of bamboo and the sounds of the wetland, attuning themselves to the rhythm of coexistence with nature.

Here, where sky and earth meet upon the wetland, people and nature search together for a suitable dwelling, co-creating the future like seeds in their environment.
