Title: Air Path

Seaweed relies on air to float within the ocean, while humans breathe the same air on land.
As I walked along the coastline, contemplating the work to be created here, I noticed that in the cold of winter, the beach was covered with seaweed washed ashore by the waves. These seaweeds became the most fitting material for this work, carrying within them the season and character of Iceland.
Along the snow-covered shore, I gathered the seaweed and transformed it inside the old lighthouse at Gardur city into an abstract sculpture that grows along the interior of the tower. Its form echoes the air bladders of seaweed and also resembles the wick of a candle, slowly extending upward through the vertical space.
After completing the work inside the lighthouse, I walked back toward the beach and opened a path leading to the sea. As I moved forward, I reflected on the history of the Vikings discovering new lands and setting out toward unknown worlds. In this land of ice and fire, this place feels both like the end of a road and the beginning of a new path.
