Title: Seed

The concept of the work Seed is inspired by wetland plants and their ecological functions. Wetland vegetation stabilizes sand and protects the embankments of fish ponds, while also providing shade and food for aquatic life and materials for birds to build their nests. Within the wetland ecosystem, these plants play a vital and sustaining role. Standing in the wetland with a flowing, organic form, the sculpture resembles a giant seed, merging with the surrounding landscape of water and vegetation. It exists both as a piece of natural sculpture and as a temporary habitat for birds, symbolizing a “seed” of coexistence between humans and nature embedded in the land.
The work is located in Chenglong Wetland in Kouhu Township, Yunlin County, where land subsidence occurs year after year. The circular opening in the sculpture functions as a viewing frame for the sunset, while also marking a reference line for local water levels, serving as a subtle reminder of the environmental changes faced by the village.
