雲林溪靜靜流淌，貫穿著斗六這座充滿歷史與文化氣息的城市市中心，不僅見證了這裡由一條河流孕育出繁榮市區的歷程，更是城市靈魂的一部分。作為斗六的城市之河，雲林溪不僅提供生活與農業用水，也是城市廢水的排放渠道，見證了城市由河流孕育而成的歷程。

作品選擇以甲骨文中象徵「河」的字形作為形象，這一古老文字不僅記錄了先民對自然現象的觀察，也蘊含著深厚的文化底蘊，載著這座以河流為發展根基的文明城市的記憶與故事。

「以河為型，以落葉為體」的創作手法，在視覺與意念上進行一場獨特的對話。落葉是大自然循環中的一部分，象徵著時間的流逝與季節的更迭；而當此自然雕塑被精心裝置在繁忙的太平老街上，如同一塊醒目的招牌，更像是一位無聲的詩人，訴說著城市與自然共生的故事，提醒人們在消費社會中不要忘記自然的孕育與賦予，同時引發對環境保護和可持續發展的思考。

作品透過古老文字詩意的筆觸，賦予了傳統符號新的生命力，且以自然的符號為媒介，搭建起一座跨越時空的橋樑，使觀者不僅能夠回顧過去，感受那曾經在河流孕育下形成的獨特文明，更能在忙碌的生活中停下腳步，思索當下與未來的關係。正如那流動的河水一樣，歷史與現代、自然與人文在這裡交織融合，構成了一幅生動而多層次的「城市河風景」。

The Yunlin River flows quietly, threading through the heart of Douliu—a city rich in history and cultural atmosphere. More than just a waterway, it has witnessed the transformation of a river into a flourishing urban center and remains an essential part of the city’s soul. As the urban river of Douliu, the Yunlin River not only provides water for daily life and agriculture but also serves as a channel for wastewater, embodying the complex relationship between nature and urban development.

This artwork adopts the form of the oracle bone script character that symbolizes "river." This ancient script reflects the early people's keen observations of natural phenomena and carries profound cultural significance. It holds the memory and stories of a civilization whose roots lie in the river’s flow.

A creative approach that takes the river as form and fallen leaves as substance establishes a unique dialogue between visual form and conceptual meaning. Fallen leaves, as part of nature’s cycle, symbolize the passage of time and the changing of seasons. When this natural sculpture is carefully installed along the bustling Taiping Old Street, it becomes a striking visual landmark, like a silent poet narrating a story of coexistence between city and nature. It gently reminds us not to forget nature’s nurturing power amidst the rhythms of consumer society and prompts reflection on environmental protection and sustainable development.

Through the poetic stroke of ancient script, the artwork breathes new life into traditional symbols. Using the language of nature, it builds a bridge across time and space, inviting viewers to look back on the past and sense the unique civilization once shaped by the river.
